Food donation drive

 The Department of Computer Science students organized food donation drive on 21st February 2024 as part of *Astitva*- Annual activity on the occasion of Shiv Jayanti. 


The students donated food grains and pulses to *Sai Guru Sanstha*  at Vadgaon, Sinhgad road.

 BBA Department students had actively participated in the research paper competition organized by the Garware college of commerce, Pune. Total 4 papers of  students of BBA and BBA-IB were published in the magazine with ISBN no. 978-81-955505-2-4. Issued by Garware College of Commerce.

 *The Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti Celebration*


The day commenced with an ecstatic morning charged with a positive spirit and full lively temper. As Sun ascended to horizon; it brought around the first glimpse of sun lights striking onto darkness making it disappear unknowingly. When those first rays descended upon the MMCC campus, it heralded the arrival of 'Vansant or Spring Season' so new leaves begin to come up on trees making the light green shades over them. It is शालिवाहन शक १९४५ & शिव शक ३५०, the occasion was celebration of 394th birth anniversary of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, the founder of Maratha Empire.

Marathwada Mitra Mandal's College of Commerce was performing a sacrament / solemn ceremony publicly to honour the Maratha leader for his indomitable courage, audacity, and triumphs who established the swaraj or people's state for the well-being of common masses.
We remember him for his legacy of ending the era of medieval feudalism in the region and for bringing the administration which was based on modern principles of social justice, tolerance, secularism, and upliftment of downtrodden.

On Occasion, the campus was filled with colours of joy and energy as more than 200+ students joined the event in traditional attire embellished with ornaments and turbans. Garland of flowers were woven to decorate the Palkhi & Rangolis on floor resonating with the theme of the event. The Palkhi procession happened with ensemble of traditional Dhol-Tasha Pathak & Students in Varkari dress up provided chorus in background. The students demonstrated their skills in Malla Khamb & Lathi Kathi plays while some elevated the mood by singing Powadas & performing dances.

The event was begun with *an inauguration speech of HOD Prof. S. M. Edke Sir and Palkhi pujan in hands of Prof. Gaikwad sir.* Prof. Tukaram Patil sir and Prof. Dr. Punam Shinde ma'am co-ordinated the whole event ensuring order and discipline during ceremony. we are thankful to *Principal sir* for allowing us to organise and co-ordinate the event. The event culminated with joyous chanting of slogans in praise of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.

Guest lectures play a crucial role in enriching the educational experience by bringing real-world expertise and insights to students. The Department of Computer Science, organized a Guest lecture series consisting of three sessions on Emerging IT Trends & Technologies, Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) and Bootcamp on IoT Workshop. The objective was to expose students to industry trends, practical applications, and legal aspects related to these domains.


1. Emerging IT Trends and Technologies Guest Session:

The session was conducted on Friday 16th February 2024 by Mr. Kunal Pagaria, a software technical expert working at AMDOCS and a seasoned IT professional known for his expertise in tracking and understanding emerging trends. 91 students of TYBSc(CS) and TYBBA(CA) attended the session and interacted with the speaker. The presentation covered a wide spectrum of topics, including but not limited to:

Cybersecurity Challenges: In light of the increasing frequency and sophistication of cyber threats, the speaker discussed the evolving landscape of cybersecurity and the role of professionals in safeguarding digital assets.

React JS:React JS is widely used in industries for building interactive and dynamic user interfaces in web applications. Its popularity is attributed to its efficiency, flexibility, and the ability to create scalable and maintainable front-end solutions. The speaker also discussed about the cases and advantages of React JS

Cloud Computing Advances: An overview of the latest trends in cloud computing, including serverless architecture, edge computing, and multi-cloud strategies, offering students insights into scalable and flexible IT infrastructures.

Key Takeaways:

Industry Relevance: The session emphasized the relevance of staying abreast of emerging trends to remain competitive in the IT job market.

Skill Development: Students were encouraged to develop skills aligned with emerging technologies, fostering adaptability and innovation.

Global Perspectives: The guest speaker shared global perspectives on the adoption and impact of emerging technologies, providing students with a broader understanding of the industry landscape



2. Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) Guest Session:

For the Intellectual Property Rights(IPR) Guest Session, the guest speaker, Adv. Kshitija Kulkarni, an IP Lawyer, Patent Agent and founder of LegaInnovate Consultancy, discussed the need and importance of IPR on Tuesday 13th February 2024 for 120 students of TYBSc(CS) and TYBBA(CA) . This lecture aimed to create awareness about the importance of protecting intellectual property. 

Key aspects covered included:

Introduction to IPR: An overview of patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets, highlighting their role in fostering innovation and protecting creators' rights.

Legal Framework: Insight into national and international legal frameworks governing intellectual property, emphasizing compliance and enforcement measures.

Case Studies: The lecture featured real-world examples of intellectual property disputes and resolutions, offering valuable insights into the legal complexities.



3. Bootcamp on IoT Workshop 

The “Bootcamp on IoT” workshop was conducted by Dr. Rajashree Jain, Professor at Symbiosis Institute of Computer Studies and Research(SICSR) on Thursday 22nd February 2024. The session began with an overview of IoT. 94 students from SYBSc(CS) attended the workshop and interacted with the speaker along with her student volunteers. It covered fundamental concepts, applications, and challenges in IoT. It aimed to provide students with hands-on experience and practical skills in the rapidly expanding field of the Internet of Things (IoT) in a smarter world. 

Key takeaways included:

Hands-on Experience: Through interactive exercises, participants gained hands-on experience in designing and implementing IoT solutions in Tinker Cad simulation software.

Problem-Solving Skills: The collaborative projects fostered problem-solving skills, allowing participants to apply theoretical knowledge in real-world scenarios using LED-like components.

Industry Relevance: Case studies and industry applications provided participants with insights into the practical applications and relevance of IoT in diverse sectors.



Outcome of the lecture series:

Together, these initiatives reflect the commitment of the department to provide a holistic education that goes beyond traditional academic boundaries. The collaborative efforts between industry experts and academic faculty have created an environment where theoretical knowledge seamlessly integrates with hands-on experience.
