United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, Women Empowerment, and Higher Education

The Department of Higher and Technical Education, Government of Maharashtra, in collaboration with Savitribai Phule Pune University, organized a one-day State-Level Women Empowerment Conference on October 23. The event, titled "United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, Women Empowerment, and Higher Education," was attended by more than 1,300 women professors from various colleges in the state of Maharashtra. The conference took place at Savitribai Phule Pune University and was graced by the presence of Mr. Chandrakant Patil, Minister of Higher and Technical Education of Maharashtra, and Dr Neelam Gorhe, Deputy Chairperson of the Maharashtra Legislative Council.

The conference comprised six sessions during the day, where experts from various fields provided guidance to the women teachers. Informative discussions covered topics such as the National Education Policy (NEP), Women's Security, Women Empowerment, Women Entrepreneurship, and Sustainable Development. Dr. Punam Shinde , Asst. Prof. Roshni Gupta, Asst. Prof. Vishakha Wagh , Dr. Pranita Raskar and Asst. Prof. Rushika Kinjawadekar attended this program.

The Department of Computer Science is happy to announce the establishment of Student Club for Coders, CODEMITRA on the occasion of Khande Navami on the eve of Dussehra, 23rd October 2023.

This club will be managed by the students, for the students and constitutes students. A formal hierarchy will be decided to involve a group of students for promoting critical thinking as part of student forum.

अमेय प्रकाशनाच्या वतीने प्रख्यात रेडिओलॉजिस्ट डॉ. अरुण किनरे लिखित आणि संतोष शेणई अनुवाद केलेल्या `रेडीअन्ट डेस्टिनी` या आत्मकहाणीचे प्रकाशन ज्येष्ठ अभिनेते दिलीप प्रभावळकर यांच्या हस्ते आज (रविवारी) झाले. यावेळी (डावीकडून) संतोष शेणई, डॉ. मोहन आगाशे, डॉ. जब्बार पटेल, सतीश आळेकर, डॉ. किनरे व उल्हास लाटकर उपस्थित होते. अमेय प्रकाशन निर्मित हे संतोष शेणाइंचे दुसरे अनुवादित पुस्तक.

ही आत्मकहाणी एका डॉक्टर-पेशंटची आहे. पंचवीस वर्षांपूर्वी डॉ. किनरे यांना हार्टअटॅक आला. तेथून आजारांची मालिकाच सुरू झाली. आजवर दोन ओपन हार्ट सर्जरी, १४ एन्जिओग्राफी, पाच अन्जिओप्लास्टी, दोन पेसमेकर शस्त्रक्रिया, कर्करोग, कोलोस्टॉमी, कोलोस्टॉमी बंद करण्यासाठी पुन्हा शस्त्रक्रिया, हृदयात बुरशीजन्य संसर्ग, त्यासाठी लेझर शस्त्रक्रिया, अर्धांगवायूचा झटका, सिंकोपीचे अनेक अटॅक, डेंग्यू, त्वचारोग, किलॉइडसचा त्रास, आणखीही बरंच काही. एका आयुष्यात. वयाच्या पन्नाशीनंतर. तरीही हा माणूस हसतमुख असतो. त्यांच्यातील जिद्द व धाडस अनेकवेळा दिसून आलं. ते अजून क्लिनिकला नियमित जातात. देशापरदेशात कॉन्फरन्समध्ये सहभागी होतात. शोधनिबंध सादर करतात. अशी ही अचाट आणि अफाट कहाणी संतोष शेणाइंना अनुवाद करता आली.

WALK-A-THON : 2023

Arthritis is one of the most common medical conditions in India that is affecting 15 crore people and imposing a huge health burden on society. In the next decade or so, arthritis especially knee arthritis is expected to emerge as the fourth most common cause of physical disability in all age groups in India.

Sancheti Institute for Orthopedic & Rehabilitation, Shivaji Nagar, Pune organized the event Walk A Thon: 2023 to raise the awareness for the arthritis prevention & treatment on Sunday, 22 Oct. 2023 from Sancheti Hospital to Modern College Ground, Shivaji Nagar. *230+ NSS volunteers of Marathwada Mitra Mandal's College of Commerce* took part in the event by walking a distance in support of the noble cause.

Dr. K.H. Sancheti, the founder of the Sancheti Hospital inaugurated the event in the presence of Dr. Parag Sancheti, Chairman & Managing Director of the Hospital. The event culminated on Modern College Ground with being informed the audience about seriousness of Arthritis prevalence, some cultural performances, & felicitation of the guests of honor.

On the occasion, Mr. Sandip Karnik, Joint Commissioner of Pune was present as principal chief guest. Mr. Ravindra Binawale, Additional Commissioner PMC, Pune, Mr. Vikas Dhanane, Additional Commissioner of PMC, Pune, Prof. Dr. Gajanan Ekbote, Chairman, Progressive Education Society, Pune were invited as Chief Guests. While Vijay Kumar Magar, DCP, Traffic,Pune and Mr. Sandeep Singh Gill, DCP, Zone 1, Pune shared the dais as the guests of honor.

Prof. Pankaj Ghorpade sir & Prof. Dr. Kalpana Vaidya played the important role of co-ordination during the event. Prof. Sushil Gangane guided and motivated for this NSS event.

Narvas: Capture the nine emotions

Department of Business Administration* had organized photography competition on the theme Narvas: Capture the nine emotions on 18th October 2023. For the competition 58 students were registered and Prof. Swapnil Kamble and Prof. Sanika Kulkarni from MAJMC were the judges of the event.

The purpose of the competition was to shine a light on talented photographers and look at things from their lenses. All the participants showcased their creativity and talent.

The winners of the same are as follows:

First Runner Up: Uzma Shaikh (MAJMC)

Second Runner Up: Rudresh Gaudnour (BSC CS)

On 16th October 2023, marked a significant occasion as our Principal Dr. Devidas Golhar Sir, Marathwada Mitra Mandal's College of Commerce signed an MOU with the District Election Office and the Worship Earth Foundation. This event featured the presence of notable figures such as Mr. Shrikant Deshpande, Additional Chief Secretary & Chief Electoral Officer, Maharashtra; Mr. Rajesh Deshmukh, District Collector & District Electoral Officer, Pune; Mr. Parag Mate, Founder of Worship Earth Foundation; Ms. Minal Kalaskar, Deputy District Election Officer, Pune; Mrs. Archana Tambe, Deputy Collector SWEEP; Mr. Tejas Gujarathi, MD & CEO of Worship Earth Foundation; and Mr. Sunil Patil, Director of Spectrum Academy. Additionally, esteemed principals, deans, professors, and campus ambassador from the institution attended the program. This partnership, marked by the signing of an MOU, is a major step towards promoting awareness about elections and empowering the younger generation to become informed voters.

Kalash Decoration Competition

On 16th October 2023, the Department of Commerce had organised “ Kalash Decoration Competition “ under the theme “ Meri Maati Mera Desh” . Students participated in large numbers. In all 67 groups registered and participated. Only earthen pots were permitted to be decorated. All the students had decorated their Kalash beautifully using intricate designs and decoration materials. The event showcased the creativity of our students.
